Tilda Swinton swanned into Whole Foods Bowery this past Sunday and paused to pick some pears alongside me. Paging her majesty in the fruit aisle, hello! Since then, pears have emerged as a motif of sorts, popping up randomly. They’re a symbol of prosperity, longevity and inner peace – so I’ll go with it!

I finally saw “I Am Love,” starring the sublime Tilda Swinton. A lush, exquisite piece of art. Italians know beauty!! I highly recommend seeing this sweeping film – at the theater, if possible. The cinematography alone is worth the ticket.
I’ve been enthralled with Tilda’s talent and screen presence since I first saw Orlando as a teen. I loved this piece in The New York Times about her relationship with Luca Guadagnino, “I Am Love” director, and how they’re constantly challenging one another to bring their cinematic fantasies to fruition.

Bummed to have missed Sally Potter and Tilda Swinton at MOMA Wednesday night. Jezebel recaps the “Orlando” (my fave) screening here.
This is the movie that made me fall in love with film as a teen. The costumes! That music!! Triumphant!!!
I’ve followed Tilda and Sally ever since…
